Elaine’s credentials & experience
Elaine Avrus has been working and volunteering in the counseling field since 2005 in a variety of areas. Her concentrations include supporting families and empowering individuals. One of her main focuses is assisting couples to understand and to strengthen their communication. Elaine is also an active member in the counseling field and speaks at local and national conferences about the importance of promoting social justice.
Elaine has a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University. She’s been a candidate for the National Counselor Certification since 2009 and will be awarded her Master’s Degree later in 2010. She has the same top-notch, graduate level training that Angela has. She’s completed all of her graduate coursework at the University of Colorado at Denver in their nationally renowned and accredited Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education program and has specialized in therapy for couples and families for the past three years. Elaine is a professional member of the American Associatoin of Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Counseling Association.
Her experience working with a wide range of clients, combined with her passion for diversity, have brought her to Flourish Counseling where she can be a support for you, your family or your relationship.
As the Psychotherapy Intern* in the Pay It Forward program, she provides therapy on a sliding fee scale of $35 to $55 per sessiion, offering tremendous benefits and value to her clients.
*Try not to let the title “Intern” fool you. Although Elaine receives additional training from Angela, she’s already an expert on mental health issues compared to 99.9% of the population and can help you get to the root of your problems.
