What are you doing about the things that you want to change in your life? That’s what I want to talk about today. Often times if there is a big change or a big shift that we want to make, we know that it might take us several months to accomplish that goal.
What are your goals?
Maybe it’s wanting a new job and you know it’s not going to happen overnight. Maybe you want to improve your relationship or maybe you just want to become less stressed out and more balanced. All of these things are valid goals that we generally understand are going to take some effort. My question to you today is, if there’s something that’s not working for you in your life, what are you doing about it in this very moment?
I often see folks identify something that they want to shift and then very quickly stall out on doing anything about it. When something isn’t working for us we pretty much have two options.
Option #1
We can be proactive about making those changes and proceed with enthusiasm and that is going to help us feel energized and optimistic about it. Even if we know it’s going to take a long time, there’s generally something very optimistic about knowing, okay this is a crappy job, but I’m not going to stay here forever. I’m doing something about it.
Option #2
The second option is, you can stall out. You can fall into that place of inertia and generally with that, comes feelings of resentment toward our partners, our boss, whoever it is, and a growing sense of discontentment and unhappiness in our lives. The longer we avoid going after the things that we truly want, the more discontent we generally tend to feel. So, if there’s something that you want to change in your life, what are you doing about it?
